Health, Safety and Training
Byrnecut has a robust, comprehensive, standardised OH&S package which is applied across all of our operations. Constant appraisal and ongoing internal training allow for continual improvement of the package. A dedicated team works on our systems and compliance issues, utilising the powerful INX database for data analysis and reporting. There is also a great team of safety personnel working with our operations to ensure that these systems are successfully implemented.
- ISO Certifications
We are proud to announce that our management systems for our underground mining operations were recently certified for ISO 9001: 2008 (Quality Management Standard), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management Standard), OHSAS 18001:2007 (Health and Safety Management Standard) and AS/NZS 4801:2001 (Health and Safety Management Standard).
- Registered Training Organisation
Providing opportunities for our employees to grow professionally is beneficial to both the company and our staff. Byrnecut is endorsed by the Australian Skills Quality Authority as a registered training organisation (RTO) to deliver nationally accredited training. Operator competencies result in the awarding of nationally recognised outcomes.
In addition, we run a supervisor development program which includes modules for risk management, communication and incident investigation. All modules are nationally recognised and also comply with Queensland & NSW government requirements for supervisors.
- Mind in Mines Program
Recognising the need for mental health awareness on site, Byrnecut started working with Rural & Remote Mental Health (RRMH) to introduce the Minds in Mines program to our site personnel.
The RRMH’s Minds in Mines program is unique in that it delivers a sustainable, comprehensive, integrated mental health strategy. Minds in Mines is designed to raise awareness, grow understanding and reduce the stigma of mental health. Acknowledging that mental health is a real factor in safety, productivity and employee wellbeing, Byrnecut is offering the program across all our sites. From regular tool box talks to printed material, RRMH offers ongoing support where it is needed most.
- Sano Whip Program
Sano’s Wellbeing, Health & Injury Prevention (WHIP) Program allows Byrnecut to choose from a menu of services to ensure a customised approach to minimising the risk of injury and improving the health and engagement of all our employees, both on site and office based.
Sano’s WHIP Program puts the ‘health’ back into health and safety through the integration of systems, technologies and people from elite sport.
- Employee Assistance Program
Byrnecut offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), through Davidson Trahaire Corpsych. This is a voluntary, non-judgemental and confidential counselling service to assist in dealing with work and personal issues. It is available to all Byrnecut employees and their families. The EAP offers a structured, short term, solution-focused approach to assist individuals to enhance their emotional, physical and financial wellbeing.
The EAP is available 24/7 to support employees and family members via phone or online.
